Bollywood’s first superstar, the late Rajesh Khanna, contested his first Lok Sabha election from New Delhi seat in 1981 on a Congress ticket. However, he had to face defeat from BJP’s Lal Krishna Advani.
Bollywood’s Rangeela girl Urmila Matondkar also tried her luck in politics. The actress had contested the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019 on Congress ticket. But he was defeated by BJP candidate Gopal Shetty.
Ravi Kishan, who has proved his acting prowess in Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema, also contested his first Lok Sabha election from Jaunpur in 2014 on a Congress ticket, but he had to face defeat from BJP’s Krishna Pratap.
Gul Panag, one of the beautiful actresses of Bollywood, also tried her luck in politics. In 2014, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Chandigarh on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. Although he was defeated by Kirron Kher.
Mahesh Manjrekar, who has shown his acting skills in Hindi and Marathi films, contested his first Lok Sabha election from North West Mumbai on MNS ticket. But he suffered a crushing defeat from Shiv Sena’s Gajanan Kirtikar.
Bollywood’s drama queen Rakhi Sawant launched her party Rashtriya Aam Party and contested the 2014 elections from Mumbai North West seat. She got only two thousand votes and was defeated.
